dragadorfThe Accelerated Dragadorf is somehow a strange opening, which is a clone of Accelerated Sicilian Dragon opening. The name of the openning was created by Simon Williams in his new book : "The New Sicilian Dragon", 2009. It is a mix of Dragon and Najdorf. Let's see why. Look at the moves : 1/ e4 c5  2/ Nf3 d6  3/ d4 cxd4   4/ Nxd4 Nf6  5/ Nc3 g6  6/ Be3 a6 !?. So g6 and a6 are typicaly moves of Sicilian Accelerated Dragon and Sicilian Najdorf.  But together? So what does white think about it ? What does black want to play? The opening of  Najdorf or Dragon? The file of opening itself shows B70-93 - a wide range od classification by ChessBase. It this  maybe a reason of transposition which is very big? Our data shows that the first was the sequence of moves played by Perrot /FRA/ in 1954. After that Reshevsky in 1957. Nowadays this opening is played by Amonatov, Kudrin, Shabalov, Kuzubov etc.. In the Theory table this opening shows poor results but not easy to say if this is true because the Accelerated Dragadorf is only starting to play now and we need more evidence. This opening now growing so stay tuned.

Alekhine boardUnder one opening you will find two variations of Alekhine Defence. The reason why is that both variations are different with different statistic of success. The principle of Opening is to provoke White to advance his pawns in an attempt to prove that these advanced center pawns are in facts a weakness rather than a strength. The opening was started to be using in 1921 by Alexander Alekhine, later World Champion. It was era of hypermodern lines of Variations based on non symmetric positions and unbalanced materials, which makes the Opening a good choice for aggressive fighting players. Negative of that defence is that : Black gives away space for no significant return. White routinely obtains control of the board leaving Black with little room to maneuver. But the coin has two faces. Blacks plan is destroy center of White and after that prepares the counter attack. This Opening is characterized by very wild positions because attacks and counterattacks played maybe during the same time yet it is about time and tempo who wins. If the opponent is not weak you can expect very interesting game.

First of one Variations is : Four Pawns Attack. It is the sharpest Variation when White does not wait for anything and wants to crush Black in speedy way. Black only waits for this moment, because White can overestimate his/her attack and the situation can quickly change. Order of moves are : 1/ e4 Nf6 2/ e5 Nd5 3/ d4 d6 /torpedo is prepared/ 4/ c4 Nb6 f4 /aggressive move/.

In our Opening table you can see next moves and their statistics. Nowadays this variation is played by Baburin, Bagirov, Shabalov. Occaintionally Svidler, Ivanchuk and Nakamura as Blacks. What is interesting in statistics is that White is not better than Black significantly and every game is not the same.

Alekhine modern boardUnder one opening you will find two variations of Alekhine Defence. This Opening is characterized by very wild positions because attacks and counterattacks played maybe during the same time yet it is about time and tempo who wins. If the opponent is not weak you can expect very interesting game.
The 2nd variation - Introduction of Alekhine Defence is same, but differences are bigger than you thought. Moves as White  4/ f4  in Four Pawn Attack are very aggressive but we can ask ourselves "don't we over do it?" It depends of the master knowledge. Interesting situation is in Correspondence Chess. Many times used engines prefer White more than it is necessary. Then White can feel false good. False ranking can do the problems. The Modern Defence Variation of Alekhine Defence  changed move to 4/ Nf3, starts developing figures and it makes big difference of next positions. You can look into the Opening tables and next moves of Black 4/ .. g6 /Alburt Variation / and other answers which have better statistics of games for White. Now it is harder for Black to equalize or counterattack because he starts maneuvering and White has bigger space. It doesn't matter, if Black playes plays carefully it can draw some wild positions too. The opening is played by Alburt, Baburin, Bagirov, Vaganian , Varga Z...

Anglo-DutchThe English-Dutch Defence is a clone of English Opening, but very strange one. Sometimes the name is in many ECO classification "other". After typical English Opening set up : 1/ c4 e5 2/ Nc3  is  f5 second move of Black is shocking or perhap a joke for White. It is a minority Defence, but as you see in the Theory table and games no one can find the right way out. Report is made from games after 1960 and it has only 202 games, but it is still played nowadays perhaps not at the TOP level. This type of opeining is suitable for the club level where it's the right place for this experiment - half English and half Dutch /cat-dog/. dragadorfThe English Opening A11, Anglo-Slav Defence or somethimes called Carro-Kann System is characteristic by moves 1/ c4 c6. The first Black moves are typical for both Openings Slav and Carro-Kann. The ideas behind Blacks is same but in the area of English with first move on 1.c4. The Anglo-Slav motive is also present in Reti Opening, i.e.1/ Nf3 Nf6 2/ c4 c6. The Anglo-Slav continues on 1/ c4 c6 2/ Nf3 d5 3/ b3 Nf6 4/ g3 Bf5 5/ Bg2 e6 6/ Bg2 Nbd7. dragadorfThe Anti-Grundfeld Defence D70, sometimes called Grundfeld Indian is based on tricky third move. The move order is : 1/ d4 Nf6  2/ c4 g6 3/ f3 !? This was played several times in the 1930's by Alekhine and till today it is still popular. White hopes to steer the game into the Saemish Variation of the King's Indian with e4 which is not going to make Grundfeld player very happy. The game continues 3/ ..d5 4/ cxd5  Nxd5  5/ e4 Ndb6  6/ Nc3 Bg7  7/ Be3 0-0. White has developed a nice center, but Bishop on f1 does not have a good square to develop. White prepares to castle qeeenside. Sometimes it ends with unclear position and chances for both sides. The defence looks interesting. Look to Theory tables what happens next.

AntiSveshnikovThe Sicilian defence is N1 against e4. Lot of theory and variantions, but Sveshnikov B33 is mainly hardest for white. All the games are unique. Hard to tell for white which variation is better. It's a wonderland for both players, but also for good nerves. Anti - Sveshnikov probably does not exist, but some GMs /Joel B/ comment  this variation. The problem is that games were played years ago, yet complete analysis is missing. Yesterday I read some forums, and many users are angry to name this Opening. It was a reason or maybe idea wish - Closed Sicilian but others hate this naming. For me it is intersting to see the future how to fight with Sveshnikov variation. Move  order is 1/ e4  c5 2/  Nf3  Nc6  3/ Nc3. In Theory Table you can see how White with tricky moves bypasses B33 Sveshnikov to B30.

Budapest GambitThe Budapest Gambit also sometimes called Budapest Defence A51 is a courageous gambit. In the past, it was a favorite of Tartakower and Réti. The idea is to disconcentrate the opponent, who does not know what happened after some moves. It is a provocation simply to say. Natural move is 3.d4 x e5. After this move we have two possibilities for Black. First is 3. .. Nf6-e4 Fajarowicz Variation with 4. Qd5 or Qc2 or Nd2 or Nf3. Second way of Black is 3. ..Ng4 with following 4/ e4 or Nf3 or Bf4. ChebanenkoChebanenko Slav Defence /aka Chameleon/ is now very popular between players who want a flexibile position against 1.d4, or want desorienting White opponent if he knows only the main line games (e.g.1.d4)  . Reason of move 4. ..a6 of Black is wide ability of next moves while White still does not know, which variation Black wants to play.  It is about a transposition between variations while anything can happen when White does not await. dutchleningradThe Dutch Defence is named by Dutch player E.Stein, who lived in 18th century. Game ensures an imbalanced pawn structure and a fighting game. The idea was to prevent 2.e4 and prepare attack of White King castled kingsize. Typical pawn moves of Black are c6, d5, e6, f5. They are interesting moves from positional point of view. The Leningrad Variation share some common ideas with King's Indian with a change of move order. Leningrad Variation A87 starts with move order : 1/ d4  f5  2/ g3  Nf6  3/ Bg2  g6  4/ c4  Bg7  5/ Nf3 /maim line/ after that occurs 0-0,0-0,b3, c5or d6. Order of White or Black moves can be different. The next moves have several variations depending of strategy plan of White and Black e.g. preparing e4 or other plans  You can see it in Opening Table. It is not a  strange opening - maybe looking for the first time. Sicilian Defence is the same type but Dutch with Black pawn on kingsize... You must know the subvariants and developments of them for both sides. Many times happens very sharp double edged positions. It is the reason why this opening is played by all range of players including GMs e.g. Nijboer, Short, Kramnik, Yusupov and others. Look how players fight as White and Black in attached  CBV and PGN files.

In  the 60 s and 70s  this opening joined to the mainstream and  it is still played  till  today. Symmetrical  Variation  is very popular because it has rich possibilities from  countergambits  to positional  maneuvering.  See in Theory table development of White and Black. english reversed sicilianThe English Opening strategy is characterized by fluid pawn formations and vigorous for central control.  Black has occupied the centre and White will attack from the flank . It is not difficult to understand after 1/ c4 is e5 strongest and most combative and radical Blacks move. After 2/ Nc3 are mainly known moves 2/ .. Bb4 - Shirov Variation  2/ ..d6-Kasparov variation and 2/ .. Nc6 now observed. It is reversed Closed Sicilian and challenging to calculate significance of tempo down and why does White do it ? With 2/ .. Nc6 is Black more concerned with preventing a possible d4 than making a move in the centre of his own d5. If White now playes 3/ Nf3, the reply goes  3/ .. Nf6 and will transpose to the Four Knights Variation. It is about long-term strategic planning. Positional players like this kind of Opening. FrenchSteinitzThe French Defence : Steinitz Variation is a classical Variation of French. It is one of the main lines. Move order is : 1/ e4  e6  2/ d4  d5  3/ Nc3  Nf6  4/ e5.  Nc3 blocks the c pawn , not worried about Bb5, but has better control of the centre. Nf6 provokes White to action. Steinitz Variation 4/ e5 is an answer to Nf6. Other possibility is Bg5 pins the Knight. These Variations are sharp and both side has own plans. White gains space on kingside. Black plans c5, but not immediately. Sharp situations are doubleedged, but White has better statistic. The French good players know Black game and plays these game as the repertoire opening. frenchwinawerkeresThe French Opening, Winawer Variation : 1/ e4 e6  2/ d4 d5  3/  Nc3  Bb4  is well known opening  . The  bishop on b4  is often exchanged  with the knight on  c3.  The main  answer  to this is 4/ a3 , Qg4 , Bd2 /Keres Gambit/, exd5 and Nge2. In this report we are interested in move 4/ Bd2. White prevents the creation of a doubled pawn on c3. After our move on 4/ Bd2 this is sometimes called as the Fingerstip Variation. If the game continues with 4 ..dxe4 5/ Qg4 Qxd4 it is a Kunin Double Gambit. The Keres Gamit is at 5/ ..Nf6 6/ Qxg7  Rg8 7/ Qh6  Qxd4 ! 8/ 0-0-0 Bf8 ! /Bronsten's idea/.
