The Reti Opening A07 began to play in 1920s, when this hypomodern strategy 1/Nf3 d5 2/c4 or g3-named Barcza System started playing. White setup is not a direct aggression, so Black can choose from many ways how to defend. Reti Opening and Barcza System can easily transpose and that is a reason why Barcza System was incorporated to the same A07 Opening. White has several choices : Early b4 with expansion on queenside, but Black controls the center, Finachettos of bishops etc. The principle is to hold great area of space from which one can realize his own moves everywhere. It can easily happen seeing strange positions which are reversed to other opening . White and Black must all the time think what can happen when they approach the endgame.
