WadeThe Wade Defence A41 is a kind of Modern Defence / 1/ d4  d6  2/ c4 or Nf3 / named after Bob Wade, the British IM, who played it for many years. Wade Defence has move order : 1/ d4  d6  2/ Nf3 Bg4  3/ c4. The Black has a strong positional idea at his disposal 3/ ..Bxf3  4/ exf3  d5 ! with a very solid position. This is his main point. After 3/ c4 move orders are : 3/  ..c6  ..g6  ..Nf6 ..Bxf3 and ..Nd7. Of cource there are wide range of plans, which can transpose each to other. The Wade defence usually leads to interesting unbalanced play.The common sources of advantage are bishop pair or extra space = space grab. Positional players can have good results for both sides.
