We are thrilled to announce a significant achievement for Opening Master: breaking the 10 million mark in our official human chess games collection! This milestone shows our dedication and passion for the game, and we couldn’t be prouder to share this moment with our global community of chess enthusiasts.
A Journey Rooted in Passion
Our journey began in the 1990s with our founder, Alexander Horvath, a Senior International Master, and a few of his friends who started exchanging games and tournament results as a hobby. Their shared love for chess and commitment to preserving and analyzing games grew into something extraordinary—the largest official FIDE chess database ever built.

Today, Opening Master is more than just a database; it’s a community that spans the globe, connects non-profits, funds projects or is official educational tool for Global FIDE. We provide monthly updates to players from Slovakia to the USA, Nigeria to Australia, Germany to the UK, and over 160+ countries. Our database is an invaluable resource for players, coaches, and enthusiasts at all levels.

For our correspondence chess players and fans, we also offer the OM CORR special chess database version, featuring 2,197,589 correspondence chess games. Whether you prefer over-the-board play or correspondence chess, we have the resources to help you study, learn, and enjoy the game.
Celebrating International Chess Day and Looking Forward
As we celebrated International Chess Day this month {July 20), we invite you to explore our extensive database and enhance your chess skills. This achievement comes at a perfect time, as we eagerly anticipate the upcoming World Chess Championship between China and India. Who will be the next GOAT? Liren Ding or Gukesh Dommaraju? The World Chess Championship 2024 will be a chess match between the reigning world champion Ding Liren and the challenger Gukesh Dommaraju to determine the World Chess Champion. The match is provisionally scheduled between November 20 and December 15, 2024, with Singapore hosting the match (source Wiki)
We thank our subscribers and the global chess community for their continued support. Here’s to many more years of growth, learning, and celebrating the beautiful game of chess together!
